TAKE RESPONSIBILITY:  ENHANCE RELATIONSHIPS THROUGH ASSERTIVE COMMUNICATION

 

PURPOSE

 

To help course participants be able to live with emotional integrity and be a person of courage, able to surface concerns without making people wrong, stand their ground when necessary, and do it professionally without alienating anyone unnecessarily.  To help participants gain skill and confidence in communicating assertively and effectively in a variety of work situations

 

HIGHLIGHTS

 

  • Identify what is emotional integrity and why it is so important  that we own our voice and communicate and resolve issues
  •   Improve our use of three distinct communication skill sets—listening, sending, and collaboration:  to select the appropriate communication skill at the appropriate time

 

  • Learn how to surface issues that we own using assertive “I-messages” and  how to use the right amount of power in surfacing issues

 

  • Learn how to say the “hard things,” and how to disagree and be “okay” in terms of the relationship

 

  • Learn how to handle yourself when you’re “under fire”

 

  • Practice saying “NO” and setting and maintaining boundaries

PURPOSE

 

This course is designed to provide new awareness and skills that will improve participant’s sensitivity and ability to communicate effectively, comfortably, and with impact in a variety of business and life situations.  We’ll help course participants gain a greater understanding of people—their motivations and drivers and enhance each person’s flexibility in relating to and communicating effectively with all types of people.

 

HIGHLIGHTS

·        Learn to create the understanding and common ground that good communication requires

 

·        Identify each participant’s behavioral style and identify how it influences communication:  use our behavioral style to improve communication flexibility

 

·        Learn the essential elements of trust, and how to build trust by the way we communicate

TAKE RESPONSIBILITY:  DISCOVER YOUR LISTENING STYLE--IMPROVE YOUR LISTENING SKILL

 

PURPOSE

 

This course is designed to raise participant’s self-awareness through completing a PERSONAL Listening Style profile, and create a desire to be a better listener, and then provide skills and practice in active listening.

 

HIGHLIGHTS

 

·       To identify the business and human reasons and the benefits of improving your listening skills:  How listening will provide “psychological air” for people you interact with.

 

·       To identify three aspects of listening and increase your awareness of your listening attitudes, your listening style, and your listening strengths and weaknesses

 

·       To identify your most natural listening approaches and learn how to develop listening FLEXIBILITY--so that you are listening in the most effective style for the situation you are in, rather than just doing what comes naturally.

 

·       To add to your took kit a variety of listening skills such as paraphrases, perception checks, asking questions, using non-verbal encouragers and using summary statements for closure.

 

·       To practice, practice, practice using your listening skills:  i.e. listening to a co-worker, listening to a client, listening to your boss, listening to someone when you really disagree, listening to a friend, spouse, child

This course is designed to help participants know how to move out of conflict and create collaborative, positive solutions when disagreement or conflict happens.

¨      Identify the stages of conflict

 

¨      Identify your conflict resolution style and gain an awareness of  five distinct conflict resolution styles

PURPOSE

 

This course is designed to help professionals put together a high-impact presentation and communicate it with power and professionalism.  The course will help participants truly make a presentation and not just communicate facts, figures, and dry, boring information.

 

 

HIGHLIGHTS

 

·        Learn to prepare mentally so confidence is felt and projected: learn how to get rid of fear and nervousness forever

 

·        Gain ideas about how to construct an excellent presentation, how to create a motive or theme
